Needham Football Sits Near Top Of Division 1 South

NEEDHAM, MA — Five weeks into the football season and the Needham Rockets seem well in control when it comes to a trip to the postseason.

Entering week 6, the Rockets are 4-1 and rank second in the Division 1 South power rankings, according to ratings compiled by the Boston Herald. Ahead of Needham is BC High, who sits at the top of the south section with a perfect 5-0 record.

Two weeks remain in the regular season. After seven games, the top eight teams in Division 1 South will take part in a tournament where the winner will face the Division 1 North champion for the Division 1 title in December.

Needham's last two games of the regular season are at Braintree on Oct. 14 and at Brookline on Oct. 21.
