Needham Kids Performing in ‘Annie’ This Weekend
The theatre production will take place at MassBay Community College.
Some of Needham's youngest actors will be putting their own spin on the classic tale of "Annie" this weekend in a production at MassBay Community College.
All About Us, a non-profit children's theatre group, will be presenting an original version of the beloved tale of orphan Annie as its spring production. The cast of 35 consists of several kids from Needham and surrounding towns.
All About Us founder and "Annie" director Denny Morrell believes that her group offers a way to boost a child's self-esteem through participation in the performing arts.

"Every person has unique potential," she told Needham Patch, "and through encouragement and training our cast members develop confidence, self-awareness and a positive self concept."
Since 1999, the Brookline based company has staged lively, family-based productions such as "Alice in Wonderland," "Willy Wonka," "The Little Mermaid" and "Oliver!" All ages are invited to participate in productions and training is offered for actors, singers, dancers and other performers.

According to Morell, life after All About Us has been quite rewarding for some performers.
"Many of our former artists have continued their artistic journeys to prestigious schools and colleges," she said, citing The Walnut Hill School, Boston Arts Academy and The Circle in the Square in New York City as examples.
The production of "Annie" will take audiences on an adventure through a NY orphanage, as well as outside in the city. Productions take place today, June 5, at 2:15 p.m. and tomorrow, June 6, at 2:15 p.m. Tickets are $12 general admission at the door. Children under 12 and MassBay students/staff are $6, while seniors are $10.
Though "Annie" wraps this weekend, Morrell is already looking forward to the many productions that her company has planned in the future.
"We look forward to meeting many more amazing children and brining quality productions to our local and surrounding communities," she said.
