The meters will be free during the holidays to encourage residents to shop local.

NEEDHAM, MA — Shopping local has gotten a bit easier in Needham this holiday season. The town temporarily eliminated fees on parking meters to accommodate holiday shoppers and to encourage shopping local.

The special offer started on Friday and ends on Jan. 1. Fees on parking meters will be waived for two hours.

In order to ensure that the metered spaces remain available to shoppers, the Town will strictly enforce the two-hour limit. Moving forward, Needham will evaluate whether the free 2-hour holiday parking proves to be a benefit and create a policy so that all businesses and shoppers know what to expect.
