Needham Man Arrested for OUI; 'IRS' Scam

Thursday, July 24
At 8:34 a.m., police stopped a car with no inspection sticker at the intersection of West Street and Birch Street. The operator, a 20-year-old Holliston female, was cited for operating a motor vehicle with no inspection sticker and operating a motor vehicle with a revoked registration. At 1:03 p.m., police responded to the YMCA for a report of past larceny. An employee reported that money had been taken from his locker At 10:40 p.m., police pulled over a vehicle on West Street and arrested Michael Murphy, 41, 142 Broadmeadow Road, Needham, for a default warrant
Friday, July 25
At 8:25 a.m., police responded to a Valley Road address for a report of a car break that occurred at some point during the previous night. After speaking with residents and conducting a search of the area, police found some of the items. At 2 p.m., police, while on patrol, saw a man drive a car registered to a woman who had a suspended license. Police then saw the woman operating the same car. Both had suspended licenses. Both will be summoned to court. At 10:45 p.m., police responded to a report of an erratic operator in the area of Harris Ave. and Great Plain Ave. Police stopped the car at Great Plain Ave. and Ivy Road. After conducting a field sobriety test, it was determined that the driver was not fit to operate the car. Kevin Cassidy, 44, 48 Wilkshire Park, Needham, was arrested and charged with OUI.Saturday, July 26

At 3:20 p.m., police took a walk-in report of past disturbance. The person said that a former employee from Wingate at Needham was continually contacting her. At 6:30 p.m., police responded to Brentwood Circle for a report of suspicious phone calls. The person said that she had been contacted from a person claiming to be from the IRS, telling her that she owed money.
