Needham Pedestrian Struck, Killed on Route 24 [Update]

[Update: A Norton man has been charged in the motor vehicle accident that allegedly resulted in the death of a 29-year-old Needham man.

"As a result of additional interviews and investigation tonight, Massachusetts State Police have issued a citation to Shane Wilson, age 20, of Norton, Mass. with a single charge of leaving the scene after causing personal injury resulting in death," said David Traub, spokesman for Norfolk District Attorney Michael W. Morrissey.

Wilson will be summonsed to Quincy District Court on the charge.

The investigation is ongoing, Traub said. 10:17 p.m.]

[Update: According to a report from Mass State Police, after seeing the press coverage of the crash, a man has identified himself to State Police as, possibly the driver in the crash, and he has furnished his vehicle for investigation.

At this time, State Police have not pressed charges against the man, who says he stopped, but thought he had hit a deer.

A Needham man died Saturday evening after he was struck by a vehicle on Route 24 in Randolph.

The man, identified as Adam T. Trudeau, 29, of Needham, may have been standing in the roadway on the northbound side of Route 24 when he was struck by a vehicle, according to a news relase from Norfolk District Attorney Michael W. Morrissey's office.

"Initial investigation indicates that the deceased may have been stationary and facing oncoming oncoming traffic in the center lane of Rte. 24 northbound at the time that he was struck by a red car, driven by a male party, which initially stopped, but left the scene before speaking with police," according to the DA's office release.

Police are looking to speak to the driver of the red car and have issued a BOLO for the vehicle, which was described as possibly a red Hyundai with recent front-end damage.

"The driver of that vehicle is asked to contact State Police immediately," the release from the DA's office stated. "Any member of the public who believes they have information on the whereabouts of the car is asked to contact state police at 508-820-2121."

Troopers assigned to the Norfolk County District Attorney’s office, along with help from those assigned to the State Police Barracks in Milton, MSP Collision Analysis and Reconstruction and MSP Crime Scene Services Section, are investigating the circumstances surrounding the incident.

Route 24 northbound was closed for about four hours on Saturday as a result of the investigation.
