Needham Police Charge Woman with Driving Drunk with Kids in Car

NEEDHAM, MA - A Millis woman drove in Needham while drunk with her children in the car, court documents said.
Jillian Chambers, 35, was arrested and charged with her second drunken driving offense, child endangerment, and a marked lanes violation. She was arraigned Monday and is free on $300 bail according to court documents in Dedham District Court.

At about 8:15 a.m. on May 14, police received a report of a disabled motor vehicle on Chestnut Street near South Street. When police responded, Chambers was in the driver's seat and stated that her tire was damaged while on her way to work and she was waiting for a tow truck. While talking to her, police say she had a strong odor of alcohol and her eyes were glassy and bloodshot according to a police report.
Chambers told police that her two kids were in the car but were picked up by their grandmother while she stayed with the car.

Chambers denied having any alcoholic beverages that morning or the night before but was unable to pass a field sobriety test, according to the report.
Based on the tire's damage, the report stated that it appeared that Chambers hit something bigger than a curb.
Her previous OUI charge was continued without a finding.
She is due back in court for a pre-trial hearing on June 13.
