Needham Police Log: $10,000 Theft and More

The following is from the Needham Police Log. Arrests and charges mentioned don't imply conviction.

February 27

8:40 a.m. - An officer conducted a traffic stop on a blue Porsche Macan in the area of Second Avenue and Fourth Avenue. The operator, 36-year-old Sarah Naqvi of Needham, was arrested for operating with a revoked Massachusetts driver’s license and for not having two registration plates attached to the front and back of her vehicle.

An Officer responded to the Needham RTS for a report of damage done to the gate by a truck which was picking up equipment.

An Officer received a letter from a business subcontracted for work on B Street regarding missing equipment. The matter is under investigation.

7:33 a.m. - An officer stopped a motor vehicle on West Street in the parking lot of Avery Manor. A check of the registration revealed that it was was suspended and after subsequent investigation, a 41-year-old Boston woman was issued a summons for operating a motor vehicle with a suspended Registration.

11:55 a.m. - An officer on routine patrol observed a green minivan fail to come to a complete stop at the intersection of Central Avenue and Nehoiden Street. After performing a motor vehicle stop, it was determined that the operator of the motor vehicle had a suspended license. The operator, a 44-year-old Dorchester woman, was charged with operating with a suspended licenses and failing to stop at a stop sign.

12:30 p.m. - An officer conducted a motor vehicle stop at the intersection of Greendale Avenue and Nevada Road. The operator, a 36-year-old Fall River man was issued a summons for texting while driving and operating a motor vehicle with a revoked registration. The owner of the vehicle, a 31-year-old Fall River man, was issued a summons for allowing an unregistered motor vehicle to be operated on a public way and for allowing uninsured operation of a motor vehicle on a public way.

A 49-year-old woman told police she was a victim of credit card fraud. She took appropriate steps to protect herself from fraud against this account in the future. There are no suspects at this time.

6:05 p.m. - An Officer responded to a Dedham Avenue address for a report of a suspicious person. The person was identified, spoken to, and they left the area.

March 1

A resident on Second Ave told police that someone stole a personal check from his apartment and made it out for the amount of $10,000.00. Needham Police are investigating.

1:33 p.m. - An officer was dispatched to a Barbara Road address to follow up on an active warrant. The resident, Alfonso Orbegoso, a 43, of Needham, was placed under arrest.
