Needham Police Log: Bomb Squad Checks Suspicious Package, Vandalism, and More
The following is from the Needham Police Log. Arrests and charges mentioned don't imply conviction.

April 26
9:45 a.m. - An officer made a motor vehicle stop on Greendale Avenue for a number plate violation. As a result of the stop, a 25-year-old male will be summonsed to court for operating with a suspended license.

2:45 p.m. - A walk-in party told police that her wallet was stolen from a Chestnut Street medical facility. She was going in between rooms doing her normal routine work when she went to retrieve her purse. The purse was still there, but her wallet was gone. The victim also made it known to hospital security and to her immediate supervisor.
An officer responded to a Central Avenue address for a report of Identity theft. The Needham resident told police she gave personal information to a fraudulent bank site. This was reported to the bank

5:30 p.m. - Needham police and fire personnel responded to a Bobsled Road address for a reported suspicious package. The State Police Bomb Squad was notified and responded to the scene as a precaution. The package was x-rayed by technicians and found to be safe and not suspicious.
April 29
1:00 a.m. - An officer observed a black Mercedes sedan run the red light at the intersection of Highland Avenue and Rosemary Street. The officer stopped the vehicle near the intersection of Highland Avenue and Carey Road. An RMV check of the operator of the motor vehicle's license status revealed that his license had expired, and was non-renewable. The operator, a 38-year-old Grafton man, was issued a citation for unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle and for running a red light.
9:00 a.m. - Officers responded to a single vehicle crash in the vicinity of 1025 Central Ave. They observed a van resting against a tree with heavy front end damage. Four occupants were transported from the scene by ambulance to Newton-Wellesley Hospital for apparent minor injuries. A request for medical evaluation was filed on the operator with the Registry of Motor Vehicles based on the circumstances of the crash.
11:15 a.m. - An officer pulled a vehicle over on Highland Avenue. The operator, Justin Averett, 29, of Framingham, was placed under arrest for operating a motor vehicle with a license revoked for an OUI and on two warrants.
April 30
4:30 a.m. - Officers responded to a Hillside Avenue residence for a reported dispute between landlord and tenant. Upon further investigation, no crime had occurred and all parties were informed that the dispute was a civil matter.
May 1
11:30 a.m. - An officer responded to Cricket Field to investigate a report of vandalism. One of the picnic tables at the field house had been damaged. No other vandalism had occurred as of the time of this report.
