Needham Police Log: Car vs. Pole, Stolen Bike, and More

June 20

7:00 a.m. - Officers responded to a Hillside Avenue residence for a past breaking and entering. The matter is under investigation.

12:40 p.m. - An officer stopped a motor vehicle for speeding on West Street. It was determined that the operator had a suspended license. The operator, a 41-year-old female from Dedham, was cited and will be summoned into Dedham District Court for speeding and operating a motor vehicle with a suspended license. A licensed operator took possession of the vehicle.

3:15 p.m. - An officer stopped a vehicle for a traffic violation on Great Plain Avenue. It was determined that the operator had a suspended license. The vehicle was towed and the 58-year-old female operator was cited and will be summoned into Dedham District Court for operating with a suspended license and making a prohibited turn by-law violation.

11:00 a.m. - An officer took a report of a counterfeit bill at a Highland Avenue bank. The reporting party attempted to deposit the bill into an ATM and the bill was rejected. The customer who tried to make the deposit was unsure of how he had obtained the bill. The bill was confiscated by the bank and the matter will be forwarded to the US Secret Service.

5:00 p.m. - An officer responded to a single vehicle crash in the area of 660 South St. The operator stated he briefly looked at his GPS and went off the road, striking a utility pole. The 17-year-old Natick male will be summons to Dedham Juvenile Court for unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle and a marked lanes violation. No injuries were reported.

8:15 p.m. - An officer responded to a Chestnut Street address on a reported larceny of a bicycle. A black 21 speed mountain valued at approx $425 was stolen from the bike racks on the side of the building between 6:45 and 8:00 p.m.
