Needham Police Log: Destruction of Property, Shot Out Traffic Light, and More

The following is from the Needham Police Log. Arrests and charges mentioned don't imply conviction.

August 22

7:40 a.m. - An officer was dispatched to the area of Manning Street between Brookline and Great Plain Avenue for a report that numerous street lights had been shot out. After investigation a pellet was recovered and the matter is under investigation.

9:15 a.m. - An officer observed a sedan bearing a rejected inspection sticker and stopped the vehicle. It was determined that the registration to the vehicle was revoked. The operator, a 33-year-old Newton male, will be summoned to court for operating a motor vehicle with a revoked registration, operating a motor vehicle with no insurance, and operating a motor vehicle with a rejected inspection sticker.

2:56 p.m. - An Officer responded to an Andrea Circle address for a report of damage to a garage door. The resident stated that he located what he believed to be a bullet hole in the aluminum siding. Upon further investigation, it was determined not to be a bullet hole, but a puncture caused by an unknown object.

8:30 p.m. - A Florida resident reported that he lost his wallet somewhere between Staples in Needham and National Lumber in Newton. If found, please contact Needham Police.

10:00 p.m. - An officer was dispatched to the area of Melrose Ave and Powers Street for three parties cutting down a street sign. The parties were located along with evidence of the incident. Two Needham juveniles will be summons to court for malicious destruction of property. A 19-year-old Needham resident will be summons to court for malicious destruction of property and receiving stolen property.
