Needham Police Log: Elderly Resident Victim of Scam; Vandalism; and More

May 20
12:10 p.m. - A Wellesley man walked into the police station to report a lost wallet.
Police responded to a Highland Circle business for a reported past breaking and entering. Sometime overnight, the building was broken into and several businesses were affected. The area was secured and detectives responded to process the scene. The incident is being investigated.

May 21
1: 30 p.m. - Police responded to a Booth Street address to investigate a report of a past break-in. Upon arrival, it was determined that no entry was made, but a rear door lock had been compromised and damage was done to the door. The damage occurred sometime after April 15, 2016.

May 22
Police responded to a Cabot Street business for a report of vandalism to a vehicle. The matter is under investigation.
12:43 p.m. - An officer took a walk in report of a past fraud. The reporting party, a 77-year-old Needham woman, stated that she was contacted on the phone by someone claiming to be from the IRS. The calling party told her to send him gift cards and money orders or else she would be arrested. The matter is under investigation.
5:55 p.m. - An officer responded to a North Hill Residence for a report of a possible larceny. It was determined that a resident’s small handbag went missing. Security personnel assured the resident that they were going to do their part in helping to find the bag as well.
