Needham Police Log: Failure to Register as Sex Offender, Stolen Mic, and More

March 8
A resident of Jarvis Circle reported some items were stolen out of his car while it was parked in a lot in Needham Heights. Needham Police are investigating.
During a traffic stop in Foxborough, Steven Somers, 61, of Foxborough, was arrested and charged with unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle. Police found out during the booking process that Somers worked in Needham and was not registered at that location. Needham police followed up with his place of employment and will summons Somers to court for failure to register as a sex offender. He is no longer employed at that business.

A female resident of Needham reported that she was a victim of fraud when she was trying to purchase a 2007 Jeep Cherokee through the "offer up" website and Ebay. The woman was told to purchase $2,500 in eBay gift cards and forward the gift card account numbers to an email account. The woman did not receive the Jeep Cherokee and the incident is under investigation.
March 10
8:30 a.m. - An officer responded to a Linden St residence for a reported fire with injuries to the resident. The cause of the fire was still under investigation.
10:50 a.m. - Officers responded to a Cabot Street business for a report of stolen property. The reporting party stated a microphone and stand were taken from a conference room sometime overnight. The stolen equipment is valued at $300.
5:50 p.m. - Officers responded to McDonald's on Chestnut Street for a report of a vehicle that had been set on fire. The reporting party said that there was a fire in her vehicle but that it had gone out. The incident is under investigation.
