Needham Police Log: Hit and Run, Stolen Cash, and More

The following is from the Needham Police Log. Arrests and charges mentioned don't imply conviction.

July 18

9:15 a.m. - An officer stopped a vehicle for an expired inspection sticker. The operator, a 22-year-old Boston man, will be summoned to court for operating after suspension.

7:15 p.m. - A Needham resident at the station told police that he lost his wallet lost/stolen. The next day, the resident was notified that his wallet had been located with the cash missing. There are no suspects at this time.

July 19

8:00 a.m. - An officer responded to a Manning St. address for a report of a vandalism. The matter is under investigation.

10:30 p.m. - An officer responded to the intersection of Highland Avenue at Webster Street for a report of a hit and run crash. The reporting party stated he was stopped at a red light in the northbound lane of Webster St when a vehicle came up behind him and rear ended him. The reporting party stated that as the light turned green the offending vehicle continued through the intersection and did not stop to exchange information. Upon further investigation an 18 year old Needham man admitted to the offense and will be cited for failure to display license after an accident and following too closely.


July 20

11:25 p.m. - An officer stopped a motor vehicle on Dedham Avenue. A query of the motor vehicle registration revealed that it was revoked for insurance. After speaking with the operator, a 36-year-old Sutton man, will be cited and charged for operating a motor vehicle with a revoked registration. The citation was handed to the operator in hand and the vehicle was then towed from the scene.

11:50 a.m. - An officer conducted a traffic stop on Highland Ave near 2nd Ave . The vehicle had a revoked registration for an insurance cancellation. The 25 year old Brockton man who was operating the vehicle, will be summoned to Dedham District Court for the violation.

An Officer responded to a Highland Avenue medical facility for a report of larceny from the reception desk. Cash was taken out of a locked drawer sometime over the weekend. The matter is under investigation.
