Needham Police Log: Hit-and-Run, Stolen Package, and More

December 27
12:00 p.m. - An officer responded to a Pickering Street address for a report of a past larceny of a package. The reporting party had their money refunded from the merchant and a report was taken regarding the larceny.
11:00 p.m. - An officer was dispatched to the area of Booth and Hill Streets for a report of parties standing in the street acting suspiciously. On arrival, one party fled on foot into the woods towards the Hillside School. Two juveniles were located hiding in the field at the school. Their parents were contacted and came to pick them up.

December 28
2:15 a.m. - An officer responded to a Manning Street address for a report of a hit and run with property damage. The reporting party said that they were awoken by the sound of a crash, and when they went outside to look, they noticed damage to a family member's vehicle. At this point they called police. Multiple officers responded to search for the suspect vehicle. A sweep of the area did not yield any results. The scene was documented and a report was filed. Debris from the scene indicate that the suspect vehicle is a grey or silver Toyota. The vehicle would likely have damage to the front right side and possibly be missing a headlight. The incident remains open.

2:30 p.m. - An officer was traveling behind a vehicle on Webster Street that appeared to have an expired registration. The vehicle was stopped and the officer determined that the operator also had a suspended license. The operator, a 54-year-old Needham man, will be summoned to Dedham District Court for operating a motor vehicle after license suspension and operating an unregistered motor vehicle.
9:30 p.m. - An officer observed a vehicle parked in a parking lot on South Street. After a brief investigation two 20-year-old men from Needham will be summoned to court for underage possession of alcohol.
