Needham Police Log: Larceny, Car Break-in, and More

February 20

9:35 p.m. - An officer was dispatched to 7-Eleven on Chestnut Street for a report of a teenager that tried to use someone else's ID to buy tobacco. His parents were notified and the teen was spoken to.

5:15 p.m. - While performing selective enforcement for crosswalk violations on Great Plain Avenue at Glendoon Road, an officer observed a vehicle being driven by Stephen Terpstra, a 36-year-old Needham resident with a revoked license. The officer pulled the vehicle over on Great Plain Avenue at Washburn Avenue and placed Terpstra under arrest. He was charged with operating a motor vehicle after revocation as a habitual traffic offender (subsequent offense).

1:05 p.m. - An officer was dispatched to a Central Avenue address on report of a past motor vehicle break-in. The reporting party stated that her motor vehicle was broken into while parked in the town-owned parking lot across from Dwight Field sometime between 8 a.m. and 1 p.m. The vehicle's front window was smashed in and several personal items were removed from the vehicle. The matter remains under investigation by Norwood police.

5:30 p.m. - A Newton resident walked into the station to report identity theft. There were several credit cards opened in his name as well as a number of fraudulent purchases resulting in overdraft charges as well. As a result of the investigation a 54-year-old Needham woman is being charged with larceny over $250 by single scheme and improper use of credit card over $250.
