Needham Police Log: OUI, Break-ins, and More
The following is from the Needham Police Log. Arrests and charges mentioned don't imply conviction.

August 16
1:40 p.m. - An officer took a report of a walk-in party who stated that she believes that her violin was either stolen or lost. She stated that the last time that she saw the violin was on June 11 when it was taken on a field trip with her son. When he returned he did not have a violin with him. The reporting party stated that she just needed an official police report for her records.
August 17

10:00 a.m. - A party walked into the police station to report a suspicious phone call. The reporting person stated that she received a phone call from someone who said they were the IRS. The caller told reporting party that she owed money and that she needed to send them $3,000 in iTunes gift cards. The reporting left the police station only to return a minute later to say that the Needham Police were calling her. The number that showed up on her phone was 781-455-7570. The caller said her name was Jessica Smith. The reporting caller put the call on speaker, the caller hung up. When police called back the number on her phone, it called the Needham Police Department. The officer informed the reporting party that it was a spoof number.
10:10 a.m. - An officer stopped a motor vehicle on Webster Street. The operator, a 27-year-old Waltham female, will be charged with operating a motor vehicle with a revoked registration, and operating a motor vehicle with no insurance. A Massachusetts uniform citation was issued and handed to the operator in hand. The vehicle was then secured from the scene.

7:25 p.m. - An officer responded to a Highland Avenue business for a report of a past break-in to a motor vehicle. A report was taken and the matter is currently under investigation.
August 18
2:00 a.m. - An officer observed a Toyota sedan commit several traffic violations, and after conducting a traffic stop, the driver of the vehicle was found to be under the influence of alcohol. Patrick Kennedy, 58, of Needham, was arrested and charged operating under the influence of alcohol, and two traffic violations.
