Needham Police Log: OUI, Tractor-Trailer Strikes Light Pole and Drives Away, and More

September 22
A Dover resident told police that she was involved in a hit and run accident on Parish Road. Needham police are looking for a grey Audi with possible damage to its left front.
2:30 p.m. - An officer observed a vehicle in the area Great Plain Avenue and Chestnut Street fail to stop for a pedestrian that was waiting to cross on the crosswalk. After further investigation, it was determined that the operator of the motor vehicle was unlicensed. The operator, a 25-year-old Needham man, was given a citation for unlicensed operation and crosswalk violation. The vehicle was then driven away by a licensed operator.

10:10 p.m. - An officer was on patrol in the area of Highland Avenue and Hunting Road and observed a motor vehicle with an expired registration sticker. The Officer stopped the vehicle on Highland Avenue by Route 128. After further investigation it was determined that the operator's license was suspended. Based on this, the operator, a 33-year-old Brookline woman, was cited and charged for operating a motor vehicle with a suspended license and displaying an expired registration sticker.

3:00 p.m. - An Officer took a report at a Highland Avenue address of a suspicious person.The reporting person wanted to make Needham Police aware of the situation but didn't think anyone was specifically in danger.
6:00 p.m. - An officer stopped a tractor-trailer unit on Greendale Avenue in near Nevada Road. The vehicle matched the description the one that struck a light pole and light fixture at the intersection of Great Plain Avenue and Chapel Street and continued driving. After an investigation, the operator, a 69 year old man from Mahopac, New York will be summoned to Dedham District Court for marked lanes violation and leaving the scene of a property damage crash.
An Officer responded to Brookline Street for a report of a single car motor vehicle crash. As a result of an investigation, Robert Conroy, 31, of Norwood, was placed under arrest for operating a motor vehicle under the influence of alcohol and marked lanes violation.
