Needham Police Log: OUI, Vehicle Break-in, and More

The following is from the Needham Police Log. Arrests and charges mentioned don't imply conviction.

February 7

A resident of Perry Drive reported he was scammed by someone over the internet. He had paid for a pair of shoes through PayPal. The money was transferred, but the shoes did not arrive.

A Needham High employee stated that her Bank of America account had been hacked. She used her card at the bank in Needham Square and the Heights Shell gas station on the morning of Feb. 3. Later in the day, she was told by the bank that her card was used to make purchases in New York. She denied making the purchases. Bank of America is following up.

6:15 p.m. - An officer observed a vehicle fail to turn left in a marked left turn only lane at the intersection of Highland Avenue and Webster Street. A traffic stop was initiated and following an investigation, the operator, a 28-year-old Lowell man, was summonsed to Dedham District Court for unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle and a marked lanes violation.

7:50 p.m. - An officer responded to a report of a past motor vehicle break-in at a 4th Avenue address. The matter is currently under investigation.

February 8

1:53 a.m. - An officer responded to a business on A St for a report of suspicious activity. The reporting party showed me several notes that were left on a desk overnight during the past month. It was determined that an employee from a cleaning company was leaving the notes. The reporting party's employer terminated services with the cleaning company.An officer was dispatched to the area of 90 Hunnewell St. for the report of a motor vehicle that had crashed into a utility pole. As a result of an investigation, Vincent Palumbo, 24, of Medfield was arrested for operating under the influence of alcohol.

February 12

A Nehoiden Street resident came into the station to report her purse was possibly lost or stolen while at Bertucci's on Highland Avenue.
