Needham Police Log: Shoplifting, Cyclist Struck by Car, and More

The following is from the Needham Police Log. Arrests and charged mentioned don't imply conviction.

September 19

2:30 p.m. - An officer stopped a motor vehicle on West Street. After speaking with the operator, it was determined that the operator was attaching plates. The operator, a 37-year-old Needham woman, will be charged with attaching plates and defective equipment. After further investigation it was determined that the inspection sticker to the vehicle was being misused and altered. Based on this, the owner of the vehicle, a 51-year-old Needham man, will be charged with altered/misuse of a motor vehicle document. The vehicle was towed from the scene.

September 20

1:45 p.m. - An officer was dispatched to a Highland Avenue daycare for a report of a suspicious person. The staff wished the party to be verbally no-trespassed from the facility. The staff will also be speaking to legal counsel for a formal letter of disinvite.

September 21

2:30 a.m. - Officers responded to 7-Eleven on Highland Ave on report of two males who had shoplifted. After an investigation, a 25-year-old Needham man will be summoned to Dedham District Court for shoplifting.

9:50 a.m. - An officer stopped a motor vehicle on Highland Avenue near Second Avenue. Upon further investigation it was determined that the operator of the motor vehicle was the registered owner and she was suspended. The operator, a 22-year-old Newton woman, was cited and charged with operating a motor vehicle with a suspended license and operating a motor vehicle with defective equipment. The operator was handed a citation and the vehicle was driven away by a licensed operator.

4:00 p.m. - Police responded to past motor vehicle break-in on Rosemary Way. After speaking with the victim, it appears that an unknown suspect/s entered an unlocked vehicle and moved several things, but did not take anything from the vehicle.

September 22

7:00 a.m. - Officers responded to the intersection of School and Warren Streets for a reported crash involving a car and a cyclist. Needham Fire also responded. The cyclist was transported to Beth Israel Needham.
