Needham Police Log: Suspicious Package, Shoplifting, and More

May 8
9:00 p.m. - An officer took a report of a walk-in female who stated her purse was stolen while she was shopping in Walgreens. The larceny is under investigation.

11:00 a.m. - An officer responded to a Gary Road residence for a report of a stolen check. The matter is under investigation.
3:30 p.m. - An officer was dispatched to a Highland Avenue business address for a report of a stolen leaf blower. The incident occurred approximately around 12:30 p.m. The incident is still currently under investigation.

4:00 p.m. - A party walked into the police station to report credit card fraud. The victim stated that an unknown party charged used his credit card fraudulently. He did not have the account number as he already destroyed the card. He was advised to also contact credit bureaus regarding this incident.
5:30 p.m. - An officer took a report from an Edgewater Drive resident regarding past suspicious activity. The incident was documented and the reporting party was advised to call police if any future issues arose.
6:00 p.m. - An officer took report from a walk-in party relative to a past larceny. The victim had been given a worthless check for $600, which he had deposited into his account in exchange for $300 in cash. The victim gave the cash to an unknown male party without realizing the check he had accepted was worthless. The victim will also report this incident to his financial institution.
8:00 p.m. - An officer responded to a 2nd Avenue residence for a report of a past argument between neighbors regarding a noise complaint. Upon investigation, it was determined that it was a complaint over noise between upstairs and downstairs neighbors with no threats or physical altercation. Both parties were referred to management in the complex and informed that the incident would be documented.
May 10
10:43 a.m. - Needham Police Department personnel along with Needham Fire Department personnel responded to 25 Chapel St. for a reported unattended package outside of Fedex/Kinkos. Traffic was rerouted around Chapel Street was this incident is being investigated. The packages were deemed safe and Chapel Street was reopened at 11:40 a.m.
2:00 p.m. - An officer responded to a Highland Avenue business for a report of shoplifting. The 73-year-old Newton woman was removed from the property and was told not to return.
10:43 a.m. - Needham Police Department personnel along with Needham Fire Department personnel responded to 25 Chapel St. for a reported unattended package outside of Fedex/Kinkos. Traffic was rerouted around Chapel Street was this incident is being investigated. The packages were deemed safe and Chapel Street was reopened at 11:40 a.m.
