Needham Police Log: Three Apartments Broken Into on Oak; Fraud; Identity Theft; Arrest

The following are excerpts from the Needham police log. An arrest does not indicate a conviction.

Wednesday, Oct. 22

  • At 12:50 p.m., police responded to a Birds Hill Ave. address on a report of suspicious calls. The person said that they had received multiple harassing and annoying sales calls over the past several days.
  • At 1:05 p.m., police respond to Chesnut Street to BI Deaconess Glover Hospital to take a report of someone that had used a gift card without permission.
  • At 1:05 p.m., police responded to a residence on Greendale Ave. for a report of fraudulent purchases. The person said that she sent a certified bank check to someone in Nebraska in order to reserve an apartment in San Francisco, CA. The reporting party informed officers that she has recently stopped receiving emails from the renal agent and has had requests to cancel the reservation ignored.
  • At 3:50 p.m., a Winding River Road resident reported that he was the victim of identity theft
  • At 4:15 p.m., police responded to an Oak Street address for a report of a residential B&E that occurred sometime during the day. Three apartments were broken into. It is unknown what has been taken at this time. Incident under investigation.
  • At 5:08 p.m., officers made a traffic stop at the intersection of Highland and Route 95 for failing to display a front registration plate. Upon further investigation the registration of the displayed number plate came back to a different vehicle and the insurance for the vehicle had been revoked. A 46-year-old New Bedford man will be summonsed to court for operating an uninsured MV, attaching MV plates, and failing to display a front number plate.
  • At 9:20 p.m., polie responded to Morningside Road for the report of a  tree that had fallen on a car taking down power lines also
