Needham Police Log: Two-Car Crash, Protective Custody, and More

The following is from the Needham Police Log. Arrests and charges mentioned don't imply conviction.

June 3

2:45 p.m. - An officer responded to a Brookline Avenue residence for a report of fraud. A contractor was paid and hasn't completed the work yet.

3:25 p.m. - An officer responded to a minor two-car crash on Dedham Avenue. One operator had a suspended license. The vehicle he was driving was towed due to the damage from the crash and he had his employer send a second vehicle and licensed driver to the scene. The 23-year-old male from Weymouth received a citation for operating with a suspended license and was told that he would be receiving a summons.

3:15 p.m. - An officer observed a motor vehicle committing a red light violation at the intersection of Great Plain and Dedham Avenues. In addition to the red light violation, there were several pedestrians in the crosswalk preparing to cross the street due to the fact that the crossing signal was activated. A 58-year-old North Attleboro woman was cited for those offenses and will also be summonsed to court for operating an uninsured motor vehicle.

11:30 p.m. - Officers responded to a South Street address for a report of an intoxicated person. The 48-year-old Needham man was placed into protective custody and transported to the station without incident.

June 4

12:30 a.m. - An officer observed a motor vehicle off to the side of Highland Avenue at the intersection of Carey Place. The passenger, a 17-year-old Needham female, was under the influence of alcohol. The operator had not consumed any alcohol. The passenger transported to her residence and she was left in the care of a parent.

A resident of Jarvis Circle reported that someone had tried to use her identity to file a fraudulent tax return. The IRS refused the return and notified her of the attempt.
