Needham Police Log: Vandalism, Dog Attack, and More

May 27
2:00 PM - An officer was dispatched to 33 Border Rd to investigate a report of fraud. The victim said her debit card was used fraudulently to purchase pool supplies.
4:45 p.m. - An officer responded to the Cutler Park area for a report of a dog attack. The reporting party told police that a dog off their leash jumped up on them. When they confronted the owner of the dog, the owner responded with profanities and threatened to send their dog after the reporting party. An officer searched the Cutler Park area for the owner of the dog to no avail.

A Needham resident came into the police station to report that she was the victim of a phishing email. The resident cancelled all associated accounts. There was no loss to the resident.
A resident walked into the police station to report that there was some damage to a Greendale Avenue building. Someone used chalk to write on a wall of the building. The writing was washed off causing no permanent damage.

11:15 p.m. - Officers responded to a rollover crash at Great Plain Avenue and Chestnut Street. The operator of the vehicle that rolled over failed to stop for the red light and collided with the second vehicle. She was issued a citation. The operator and passenger of the rollover vehicle sustained minor injuries. The operator of the second vehicle appeared unharmed.
May 28
5:30 p.m. - An officer on patrol in the area of Red Wing Bay performed a security check of the area. The officer observed a young male seated on the stone bench near Fisher Street/Rail Trail. The party had his head down in-between his knees and was crying/weeping into his cell phone. The party was identified as a 16 y/o male from Westwood. The party was intoxicated and appeared disheveled. He was released to the care and custody of his mother that was called to the scene.
9:00 p.m. - An Officer observed a vehicle make an illegal U-Turn at the intersection of Highland Avenue and Rosemary Street and initiated a motor vehicle stop. The operator had a suspended license. A 54-year-old Newton man will be summoned to court for operating a motor vehicle after license suspension.
