Needham Police Log: Vandalism, Marijuana Possession, and More

The following is from the Needham Police Log. Arrests and charges mentioned don't imply conviction.

June 25

2:00 a.m. - An officer conducted a motor vehicle stop on Hunting Road for driving without headlights. As a result of the stop, a 17-year-old Needham female will be summoned to court for operating a motor vehicle without a license and operating without headlights.

12:30 p.m. - An officer took a walk-in report regarding potential vandalism to a motor vehicle at a Linden Street address. The reporting party did not know how or when the damage to her vehicle occurred and wanted a police report to be done for insurance purposes.

12:30 p.m. - An officer was dispatched to a Fair Oaks Park address for a report of vandalism. The victim’s vehicle had black marker on her car.

1:30 p.m. - An Officer was dispatched to a Greendale Avenue address to take a report of a past incident of vandalism. On the weekend of June 24th, a series of images were spray painted onto a field.

2:00 p.m. - An officer was traveling on Nehoiden Street behind a motor vehicle that was speeding and stopped the motor vehicle on Rosemary Street at Tillotson Rd. After further investigation, it was determined that the registration to the motor vehicle was suspended. The operator, a 26-year-old Cumberland, R.I., will be charged with operating a motor vehicle with a suspended registration, operating a motor vehicle with no insurance, and speeding.

June 29

6:30 a.m. - An officer stopped a motor vehicle on West Street for having revoked registration. The vehicle was towed from the scene and the operator, a 32-year-old Methuen man, will be summoned to court for operating a motor vehicle with a revoked registration and for unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle.
10:30 p.m. - An officer responded to a Crawford Street residence to take a report of identity theft. The victim was reporting that someone used her information to file her tax return. The IRS would be conducting an inquiry as to who may have filed the return.

June 30

A resident of Broadmeadow Road reported that she received a call from someone claiming to be from tech support and asked her if she was having trouble with her computer. During the conversation, he was able to get all her personal information and charged her visa card for $202.00. She later learned that this was a scam.

11:45 p.m. - An officer stopped a motor vehicle on Central Avenue at Jarvis Circle. After speaking with the operator, it was confirmed that his license was suspended. The operator, a 23-year-old man from Natick, was advised that he was going to be charged with operating a motor vehicle with a suspended license and failure to display a front registration plate. The vehicle was secured by the tow company.

An officer working a paid detail at MDL located at 135 Crescent Rd. observed a male teenager put up a white plastic chair and then enter an enclosed area behind the parking lot. The officer encountered the men, who had a clear bottle that appeared to be a bottle of liquor and also observed one of them pick up a metal item that looked like a grinder for the grinding of marijuana products and he moved it to conceal it. The juveniles also had an open back pack with a clear plastic bag that contained a greenish brown leafy substance that appeared to be marijuana. The two 17-year-old Needham men will be charged with possession of alcohol and were civilly cited for possession of less than one ounce of marijuana.
