Needham Police Log; Vandalism, Theft, and More

The following is from the Needham Police Log. Arrests and charges mentioned don't imply conviction.

July 26

An officer was dispatched to a Reservoir Street business for a report of illegal dumping. The business owner said some boxes were thrown into the dumpster. There was a Bridge Street address on the trash. The Bridge Street resident apologized and said it was a misunderstanding. The business owner did not want to pursue charges.

10:50 a.m. - An officer observed a motor vehicle bearing an expired inspection sticker and a motor vehicle stop was initiated. After speaking with the operator, it was determined that his license was suspended. Based on this information the operator, Christopher Martin, 34, of Carver, was arrested and charged with operating a motor vehicle with a suspended license and operating a motor vehicle with an expired inspection. The vehicle was towed from the scene and the operator was brought back to the police station for procedural booking.

1:30 p.m. - Two teens from Needham reported that their bikes were vandalized while they were visiting a friend. This happened the night of July 27. The vandalism is under investigation.

9:00 p.m. - Officers were dispatched to Tedeschi Food Shops on Garden Street for a report of a disturbance. It was determined that a store clerk and a customer had a verbal argument over the purchase of lottery tickets. The money was returned to the customer, and he was advised that he was no longer welcome at the store.

July 29
6:15 p.m. - An officer observed a motor vehicle turning onto Greendale Avenue from Great Plain Avenue. A check of the vehicle's registration showed the registered owner to have a suspended license. A 27-year-old Walpole man received a summons for operating a motor vehicle with a suspended license. The vehicle was towed from the scene and the operator given a courtesy transport to work.

July 30

3:00 a.m. - An officer responded to a Lexington Avenue address for the report of suspicious males walking in the area and missing golf clubs. The reporting parties who stated that they observed two males walking in the area who appeared to be checking out cars parked in neighboring driveways. The reporting parties also stated that a short time after seeing the males in the area they realized a set of golf clubs that had been left outside was missing. Officers conducted a search of the area but were unable to locate the suspicious parties or the golf clubs.
