Needham Police Log: Vehicle Break-in, Suspicious Texts, and More

The following is from the Needham Police Log. Arrests and charges mentioned don't imply conviction.

March 30

12:15 p.m. - A female on Yurick Road told police that her daughter’s car was broken into while parked on Chambers Street on March 27. The incident is under investigation.

2:15 p.m. - Officers responded to a Highland Avenue business. The reporting party stated that they had been struck by a car while riding their bike at the intersection of Highland Avenue and Rosemary Street. The victim stated that the operator of the vehicle stopped to make sure they were ok but left the scene without exchanging information. I located and spoke with the operator of the vehicle, they were cited for failure to use care when turning.

4:45 p.m. - An officers performed a traffic stop on Dedham Avenue on a scooter. The scooter did not have a validation sticker on the fender and made an unsafe lane change onto Dedham Avenue from Great Plain Avenue. The operator was identified as a 28-year-old male from Hyde Park. He will be charged with unlicensed operation, unregistered motor vehicle and marked lanes violation.

4:00 p.m. - A citizen came into the police station to report a suspicious text messages from an unknown party on her cell phone. The matter is under investigation.

6:30 p.m. - An officer was flagged down by two parties in the Walgreen's parking lot. The two parties stated that there was a suspicious male walking around looking into store windows. They felt that this person was casing the store for a robbery or something else. The also felt that this party may be impaired by drugs or alcohol. The party was found checked out okay.

March 31

An Officer responded to a Second Ave business for a report of a lamp post that had fallen down and hit a parked vehicle. There were no injuries and the vehicle was removed by the owner.
