Needham Police: Nighttrimming; Man Arrested for Second OUI Offense; Nest Boxes Ripped From Ground

The following are excerpts from the Needham police log. An arrest does not indicate a conviction.

Monday, Nov. 10

  • At 4:25 p.m., police responded to a report of vandalism that happened at the Administrative Building on Ridge Hill. Five nest boxes were broken and pulled from the ground. Needham Conservation is replacing the boxes.
  • At 5 p.m., police responded to a car accident at the intersection of Dedham Ave. and South Street. The driver who caused the crash, a 28-year-old from Dedham, was arrested and charged with OUI (second offense). David McNulty, 28, 47 Avery St., Dedham, was arrested and charged with OUI (second offense), open container, marked lanes violation

Tuesday, Nov. 11

  • At 9:10 a.m., police responded to 366 Cartwright Road for a report that a vehicle had driven over the lawn and damaged it.
  • At noon, police responded to 74 Hillcrest Road for a report of overnight vandalism. The homeowner said that two signs and posts were damaged, as well as some trees being trimmed and thrown into a construction dumpster
  • At 5:15 p.m., police were on patrol in the area of Highland Ave. and Chapel Street. Police saw a car with a brake light out. The vehicle was revoked for insurance and the owner, a 24-year-old from Mattapan, will be summonsed to court for operating with a revoked registration and uninsured MV.
  • At 8 p.m., police stopped a speeding vehicle on May Street. The operator was driving with a suspended license. The 28-year-old Needham man will be summonsed to court.
