Needham Police: Routine Stop Leads to 2 Arrests; Destruction at Library; Bicyclist Hit in Crosswalk

The following are excerpts from the Needham police log. An arrest does not indicate a conviction.

Friday, Oct. 10

  • At 11 a.m., a 14-year-old high school student reported that a cell phone was stolen

Tuesday, Oct. 14

  • At 2:20 p.m., a security officer from PTC Building reported that a former employee was on the property without permission. The former employee left the property after being asked to do so.

  • At 6:50 a.m.,a female Needham resident was struck by a motor vehicle in a crosswalk while jogging on Great Plain Ave. The driver was also a Needham resident and did not see the jogger in the crosswalk. There were minor injuries and the operated was cited for failure to yield to a crosswalk.
  • At 10:40 a.m., police responded to Panera Bread for a reported car fire. The vehicle fire was put out by a FedEx driver with an extinguisher before the FD got there. The center console of the vehicle began smoking and caught on fire.
  • At 2:10 p.m., police spotted a blue sedan on Highland Ave. The registration was revoked and police pulled over the driver, a 51-year-old Worcester man. He was charged with operating a motor vehicle with a revoked registration. It was towed from the scene.
  • At 3:10 p.m., a resident of Central Ave. reported that she was the victim of credit card fraud
  • At 3:28 p.m., police stopped a car for a traffic violation in Needham Square. The operator, a 23-year-old man from Taunton, had a suspended license. The operator was cited and the vehicle was towed.
  • At 4:20 p.m., police responded to the Needham Public Library for a report of a disturbance in the lot. A 35-year-old woman from Needham will be summonsed to court for destruction of property.
  • At 5:35 p.m., police stopped a vehicle for an inspection sticker violation at the intersection of Greendale Ave. and Rosalie Road. Running the vehicle’s information, it was determined that the owner, Peter Hepp, 24, 8 Wilogreen Road, Natick, had three active warrants out of Framingham District Court. He was placed under arrest. There were two passengers. One, a 17 year old, was released. The other, Daniel Murray, 24, 60 Ruskin Ave., Methuen, had an active warrant out of Lawrence District Court and was also placed under arrest. He will also be charged with possession of a controlled substance.
