Needham Police; Stolen Backpack With Thousands Worth of Electronics and Jewelry; B&E; Crash Into Post Office

The following are excerpts from the Needham police log. An arrest does not indicate a conviction.

Thursday, Oct. 16

  • At 10:25 a.m., police responded to Ellicott Street for a report of a resident saying he had sent a check through the US Postal Service to a resident of East Boston. Someone got the check and cashed it through Bank of America.
  • At 4:50 p.m., police responded to 168 Crescent Road to speak with a resident about a past breaking and entering into his storage unit
  • At 4:50 p.m., police spotted a car in traffic on Dedham Ave. The vehicle’s registration was revoked, and there was no inspection sticker. Police stopped the car, and it resulted in an arrest. A 37-year-old woman from Hyde Park faces charges of no inspection and driving with a revoked registration.

Friday, Oct. 17

  • At 9:24 a.m., a resident at 52 Coulton Park reported fraudulent purchases made on her Verizon wireless account
  • At 1:30 p.m., police took a report regarding missing property from Muzi Chevrolet Geo. The person said that a laptop computer and other miscellaneous items had been missing from her vehicle.
  • At 5:07 p.m., police took a report of fraudulent charges that a woman said were made to her credit card
  • At 5:10 p.m., police responded to South Street for a report of a suspicious person walking in the street. Police found the person and he was allowed to carry on.
  • At 10:20 p.m., police responded to Muzi Motors near Route 128 to investigate a hit and run accident

Saturday, Oct. 18

  • At 8:30 a.m., police responded to the Needham Center Post Office for a car that struck the building. The operator was unresponsive with no pulse and CPR was initiated. The operator, a 73-year-od New Hampshire resident, was transported to the hospital. The cause of the crash is under investigation and seems to be the result of a medical episode. The damage was minor.
  • At 6 p.m., police took a report at the station. A resident of Dunbarton Road said that while she was operating her car on Broadmeadow Street, another vehicle struck her and drove away. Her car had minor front end damage.

Sunday, Oct. 19

  • At 1:40 a.m., police reported to the lobby of the Sheraton Hotel for a reported larceny of a backpack from the front desk. The backpack contained several thousand dollars with of electronics and jewelry
