Needham Police: Woman Falls Asleep, Drives Off Road; Pumpkins, Mailboxes Smashed in Neighborhood; Stolen Violin, Wedding and Engagement Rings

The following are excerpts from the Needham police log. An arrest does not indicate a conviction.

Thursday, Oct. 30

  • At 7:45 p.m., police responded to a resident at 176 Paul Revere Road who reported that over the past few months someone stole a wedding ring and engagement ring from the home.

Friday, Oct. 31

  • At 6:55 p.m., police responded to Sudbury Farms for a report of possible shoplifting.

  • At 2:45 a.m., police responded to a car crash at the intersection of Highland Ave. and Webster Street. The operator of the vehicle had fallen asleep at the wheel and driven off the road, and down the grassy embankment. There were no injuries and the vehicle was towed.
  • At 7:15 a.m., police responded to a vandalism call in the area of Edgewater Drive and South Street. Several mailboxes were vandalized and pumpkins were smashed in the area.
  • At 8:40 a.m., police responded to 82 High St. for the report of a stolen bike
  • At 2:10 p.m., a Needham High student came to police headquarters to report that her violin was stolen from the music room at the school.

Sunday, Nov. 2

  • At 1:58 a.m., police responded to the area of Forest Street at Rolling Lane for a one-car crash into a pole. The operator suffered minor injuries and was transported to the hospital. The operator was also cited for a marked lanes violation.
  • At 2:40 a.m., police spotted on South Street that some of the mailboxes in the area were vandalized. There were also pumpkins smashed in the street in the area of the mailboxes.
