Needham Police: 'Your Grandson's Been in a Crash' Scam; 2 Utility Workers Hit at Intersection; Bike Stolen from School
The following are excerpts from the Needham police log. An arrest does not indicate a conviction.

Tuesday, Oct. 21
- At 1:27 p.m., police responded to 60 Locust Lane for a report of fraud. The caller said that they received a call from someone identifying themselves as an employee of NStar Electric. The caller requested payment for a bill immediately with a prepaid card.
- At 5 p.m., police responded to the intersection of Dedham Ave. and South Street for a report of single car crash. There were no reported injuries. A Charlestown resident was given a citation for marked lanes violation.
- At 6:24 p.m., police responded to Lexington Ave. for a report of a Trek mountain bike that had been stolen from the Pollard School grounds
- At 8:10 p.m., police responded to a motor vehicle crash into utility workers at the intersection of Dedham Ave. and South Street. Both workers were transported to the hospital with minor injuries
- At 9 p.m., Officer Turco took a report of a scam from two residents on Curtis Road. The residents reported that they were almost extorted out of a large sum of money. The original call was in regards to their grandson having been in a motor vehicle accident in the Dominican Republican.
