Needham Soccer Club Announces Start of 42nd Year

The following information was submitted by the Needham Soccer Club.

The Needham Soccer Club announces the start of its 42nd year providing soccer for the youth of Needham.  This past Saturday, Sept. 10th was the kick off of its fall season and the inaugural launch of its New Needham Soccer Club Junior Academy program (or NSCJA), which services 7 and 8 year olds.  Previously, this age group was supported by St. Barts Soccer for the past 40 years and Young Girls Soccer for the past six years.  The Needham Soccer Club would like to recognize these two groups for the great contribution they gave to the community.

Needham Soccer Club Programs – Fall and Spring

Junior Academy (NSCJA) – A fun and developmental based academy for ages 7 and 8 (1st and 2nd graders).  The program features one clinic style practice per week and one weekly game on Saturday and Sunday. 

Champions League (NSCCL) – An in-town based developmental league for ages 9 through 12, featuring 1 practice per week, clinics every other week and one weekly Saturday and Sunday game.  The league features a jamboree in the fall season and a Champion’s League Tournament in the spring.  

Travel (BAYS) – Needham Soccer Club participates in the Boston Area Youth Soccer League which is a competitive based league for ages 9 through 18.  Placement on the travel teams is on a tryout basis and the teams play against other towns in the Metro West area.  Teams practice twice per week and play weekly games on Saturday.  The fall and the spring season is championship based with teams competing for placement in the Massachusetts Tournament of Champions. 

Referee Program – Needham Soccer Club offers a youth referee program for both our NSCCL and Travel programs.  Developmental courses are offered for both leagues.  Referees are paid for games they referee during the fall and spring seasons.
