Needham Up In Statewide School District Rankings

NEEDHAM, MA — School Digger, a nationwide school rankings site, released its updated list of top Massachusetts schools and school districts Thursday, and the Needham Public School System was ranked higher than it was a year ago. In the new rankings, which were based partially on MCAS test data the state released last week, Needham was 35th, up from 41st a year ago.

The rankings mean Needham performed better up than 89.5 percent of all other districts in the state. That's their best performance, according to data going back to 2010.

Thursday's School Digger release also showed how individual schools in the district compared to every other school in the state:

• Broadmeadow Elementary, 51st of 934 elementary schools.
• Mitchell Elementary, 56th of 934 elementary schools.
• Hillside Elementary, 108th of 934 elementary schools.
• Eliot Elementary, 166th of 934 elementary schools.
• Newman Elementary, 308th of 934 elementary schools.
• Pollard Middle School, 13th of 476 middle schools.
• Needham High School, 34th of 340 high schools.
