Needham Wiz Kids Have HS Quiz Show Opponent

NEEDHAM, MA — Needham High School's quiz team knows who they will face in the opening round of WGBH's High School Quiz Show.

Needham will face fellow Bay State Conference school Brookline in the round of 16. The showdown will air on WGBH 2 Feb. 17. This will be the ninth season of High School Quiz Show and Needham's third appearance.

Contestants will be quizzed on current events, general knowledge and Massachusetts high school curriculum standards in subjects including literature, history, science, and math.

The winner will advance to the quarterfinals and face the winner of the South Shore showdown between Thayer Academy of Braintree and Hingham High School.

The winner of the tournament moves on to an interstate Invitational, featuring WGBH's High School Quiz Show state champions competing against New Hampshire PBS' Granite State Challenge state champions, the High School Quiz Show: Rhode Island state champions and the High School Quiz Show: Maine state champions for the final title.

High School Quiz Show begins taping at WGBH in January in front of a studio audience. It will premiere Saturday, February 3 at 6 p.m. on WGBH 2.
