New Exit 19 Ramps On Rt. 128 Opens Friday

NEEDHAM, MA — You've put up with delays, lane closures, highway closures, and massive highway work. Now, new on and off-ramps near exit 19 on Route 128 are opening this weekend.

The Massachusetts Department of Transportation recently announced that it will open new on and off-ramps and distributor roadways on Route 128 North near exit 19 in Needham between 10 p.m. Oct. 27 and 8 a.m. and 8 a.m. on Oct. 28.

This new traffic configuration is being implemented as part of the ongoing Add-A-Lane project. Drivers should note that when traveling along Route 128/I-95 northbound, they should move to the right side of the highway to exit at Highland Avenue sooner than they would have done under the prior configuration.

The following routes will be available by 8 a.m. Saturday:

To reach Highland Avenue eastbound from Route 128 North:

• Use Exit 19B “Highland Ave Newton Highlands”

To reach Highland Avenue westbound from Route 128 North:

• Use Exit 19C “Highland Ave Needham”

To reach Route 128/I-95 North from Kendrick Street:

• Use the Route 128 South on-ramp

Drivers are encouraged to make informed decisions before heading out onto the roadways. Appropriate signage and messaging will be in place to guide drivers during these operations.
