Newton-Needham Chamber Seeks Green Business Award Nominees

The Newton-Needham Chamber welcomes nominations for their Green Business Awards. Nominations are due Friday March 3.

From the Newton-Needham Regional Chamber: The Newton-Needham Chamber is looking nominations for outstanding, environmentally friendly businesses for the chamber’s annual Green Business Awards.

To qualify, a business must be based in either Newton, Needham or a neighboring community and either made significant progress in reducing energy, or other environmental strategies toward sustainability, or supply green products or services.

Nominations are due Friday March 3 and can be submitted at NNchamber.com. Businesses and non-profits may nominate themselves.

The awards will be presented at the chamber’s Spring Business Breakfast on Thursday May 4 at the Needham Sheraton.

Top honors in 2016 went to TripAdvisor in recognition of the construction of its environmentally-friendly 282,000-square foot world headquarters in the N2 Innovation District and to Powerhouse Dynamics, a Newton-based company which helps businesses reduce energy costs food waste through a proprietary monitoring system.

Also recognized were Johnny’s Luncheonette in Newton, Needham Bank, Mark’s Northeastern Furniture Foundation and two houses of worship, the Eliot Church of Newton and the First Unitarian Society in Newton.

“We hope the recognition these outstanding businesses and each year inspires others to also embrace best practices and a commitment to reduce our carbon footprint,” said Greg Reibman, president of the Newton-Needham Chamber.
