After several years wrestling in Division 2, the Rockets returned to wrestle in the Division 1 Central Sectional Tournament at Newton South High School on Saturday to face thirteen other schools and some very tough competition including top ranked teams from Franklin, Framingham and Lincoln Sudbury. As a team, the Rockets took an impressive fourth place. Eight rocket wrestlers received medals and six will advance to the D1 State tournament this Friday at Lawrence High School. Junior Will Burke was sectional champion at heavyweight, sophomore Lucas Goldman advanced into the finals only to lose to his top ranked Lincoln Sudbury opponent to take a hard fought second, Senior Captain Zach Goldman finished third place by beating a top ranked wrestler from St Johns Shrewsbury in his final match after losing to the very same wrestler in overtime, earlier in the day. Junior Dan Goldstein placed third having to contend with the first and fourth ranked wrestlers in his weight class in the state, while first year Varsity Senior Matt Sullivan also placed third. Senior Captain Ben Glickman will go to states as an alternate after placing 5th in the 160 lb weight class. Also medaling on the day were Junior Travis Szetela and Freshman Andy Kaplan finishing in sixth place. Earning points for the team to help propel them to 4th place were Senior Matt Ganz, Junior Alex Goff, Junior Derek Child, sophomore Griff Hood and Freshman Ryan Cohen, who all won a match on Saturday.
