NHS wrestling recap for Week of Jan. 8-11

This past Wednesday, the Needham High Wrestlers hosted Bay State Conference rival Norwood.  The Rockets dominated the match winning by pin 10 times to beat the Mustangs 66-12. Freshman Andy Kaplan started the match at 106 and set the tone for the evening. Juniors Dan Goldstein, Alex Goff, Derek Child and Will Burke also pinned their opponents as did Senior Captain Zach Goldman and his brother, sophomore Lucas Goldman. Seniors Matt Sullivan and Matt Ganz and freshman Ben Fetzer continued the onslaught. The team traveled to Belmont this past Saturday to take part in the Brendan Grant Memorial Tournament. The team had a good showing led by Zach Goldman who finished first in his weight class. Lucas Goldman finished in second place.  Alex Goff and Will Burke finished in third place. The Rockets also had one finish fourth place and one fifth place and two in sixth place.   Coach Pritchett said, "We have such a young team. However, there were a lot of good wrestlers at the tournament." he knows the best is yet to come for his young team that is still growing and maturing.
