No Fire at Nursing Home Says Deputy Chief

Smoke emanating from the roof was caused by an air conditioner fan belt.

Residents reporting smoke emanating from the Wingate facility on Highland Ave. Thursday evening have nothing to fear, according to Deputy Fire Chief Al DeIulio.

"There was no fire," he said. "An air conditioning fan belt blew on the roof of the building."

The belt melted, said DeIulio, and created a small amount of smoke around 11 p.m. No persons were harmed by the occurrence.
