OUI, Car Crashes Into Fire Vehicle: Needham Police Log

January 23
8:00 p.m. -Two Needham High School students were caught with marijuana at the basketball game. The students were disciplined according to the school policy.

1:15 a.m. - An officer observed a blue BMW SUV, which operating on Central Avenue cross the double yellow line multiple times. The vehicle was stopped and based on the ensuing investigation a Morgan Schaffrath, 40, of Dover, was placed under arrest and charged with operating under the influence of liquor and marked lanes violation.
9:42 a.m. - An officer took a report of harassing phone calls. The reporting party stated that he was going to notify his phone provider in order to block the number.

A resident from a Second Ave address reported vandalism to his motor vehicle. Needham Police are investigating.
10:24 p.m. - An officer observed a vehicle travelling on Highland Avenue in Needham Square. Following a check of the vehicle's registration plates a motor vehicle stop was initiated and after a brief investigation the operator, a 60-year-old Norwood man, was summoned to court for operation of a motor vehicle with a revoked registration and uninsured operation of a motor vehicle.
January 27
A resident of Elder Road reported that someone used his identity to activate a Chase credit card. Chase was called and they cancelled the card.
5:15 p.m. - An officer responded with Needham Fire Department personnel to a 2nd Ave address for a report of a hazardous condition. While on scene a motor vehicle struck a parked and unoccupied fire apparatus that had its emergency lights activated. Following a brief investigation the operator of the motor vehicle was issued a citation for interference with an emergency vehicle and failure to use care in backing.
