OUI, Heroin Possession, And More: Needham Police Log
The following is from the Needham Police Log. Arrests and charges mentioned don't imply conviction.

June 21
A Needham resident came to the police station to report that they were receiving emails that caused them concern. They were given advice on actions that could be taken.

10:20 a.m. - An officer observed a disabled vehicle on School Street with a significant amount of smoke coming from the engine. Needham fire responded and put water on the engine to make it safe. The vehicle was then towed from the scene.

12:10 a.m. - An officer stopped a vehicle to investigate erratic operation. Following an investigation, a Ruddy Vargas, 32, of Boston, was arrested for and charged with operating under the influence of alcohol, failure to stop, and failure to use care while turning.
8:30 a.m. - A Nehoiden Street resident reported that he was the victim of a computer scam. He was told that there was a problem with his computer that could be fixed. The "technician" claimed to work for Apple computers and instructed the resident to activate iTunes gift cards and call him with the activation codes. After doing so, the resident called Apple directly and was told that he was scammed.
5:23 p.m. - Officers were dispatched to the area of Forest Street and East Militia Heights Drive for a report of a bicyclist that was down in the roadway and possibly injured. The bicyclist was conscious and refused additional treatment. He stated he crashed the bike to avoid hitting the vehicle that pulled out from East Militia Heights.
10:15 p.m. - A resident on Surrey Lane reported that someone had rang his doorbell, left empty beer cans on his front stoop and his house was egged several times causing damage to his property.
June 25
11:30 a.m. - An officer responded to a Sutton Avenue residence for a report of a car fire. The fire was extinguished and no injuries were reported.
7:00 a.m. - Needham fire and police personnel responded to Charles River Street at the intersection of Grove Street for a crash involving a bicyclist and a motor vehicle. The 56-year-old biker from Needham was transported by Needham Fire to BI Needham.
June 26
9:30 a.m. - An officer stopped a motor vehicle near the intersection of Central Avenue and Forest Street. The registration on the vehicle was suspended. The operator, a 32-year-old Somerville man, will be summonsed to Dedham District Court for operating a vehicle with suspended registration and operating with a suspended license.
June 27
12:07 p.m. - A Needham resident reported receiving a fraudulent phone call and being deceived into giving access to her bank account to the caller. The party advised her bank and her credit card companies. The matter is under investigation.
12:20 p.m. - A Needham resident reported a series of fraudulent charges made on his credit card. The reporting party stated that he was working with the credit card company to resolve the issue.
6:45 p.m. - An officer responded to a B Street business for the report for a dog bitten by another dog. The reporting party stated their dog was bitten by a neighboring dog. The owner of the dog in question was advised of the quarantine process. Animal control is following up with the matter.
7:40 p.m. - An officer responded to a Highland Avenue business for a report of a past hit-and-run on a vehicle. The reporting party said that she noticed the damage when she was leaving work but did not see anything. An officer observed the damage to the vehicle and informed the owner that they would do a report for insurance purposes.
Needham detectives along with detectives from the NORPAC Drug Task Force conducted a motor vehicle stop vehicle on Greendale Avenue by Kendrick Street for traffic violations as well a probable cause of a narcotics transaction in Boston. This was the result of an ongoing investigation. Brian Wainwright, 33, of Needham, was arrested and charged with possession of heroin. Nicole Brodeau, 34, of Needham, was arrested and charged with possession of heroin, speeding, and missing registration sticker.
