OUI, Shoplifting, and More: Needham Police Log

May 5
10:20 p.m. - An officer responded to a Chambers Street residence for a report of an intoxicated party. A 64-year-old Needham man was placed into protective custody.

May 6
10:00 p.m. - Officers responded to a Gayland Road residence for a report of people inside the house when the home should be unoccupied. There was evidence of underage consumption of alcohol and numerous teenagers fled the home. The teens still in the home were identified, their parents were notified and responded to take custody of them. An 18-year-old Needham resident will be summoned for furnishing alcohol to minors.

10:06 p.m. - An officer was in the area of Chestnut Street by the railroad tracks checking for youths that had fled an underage drinking party and encountered several juveniles. One of the youths was a in possession of alcohol. The juvenile, a 17-year-old Needham man, will be summonsed to Norfolk County Juvenile Court for underage possession of alcohol.
May 7
12:50 a.m. - An officer encountered a vehicle in the area of Chapel Street and Great Plain Avenue. Upon further investigation a Joseph Bruno, 49, of Needham, was placed under arrest for operating under the influence of liquor.
May 8
A Wellesley resident told police that her iPhone 6 was stolen while she was at a 4th Avenue business. Needham Police are investigating.
5:30 p.m. - Officers responded to CVS Pharmacy on Highland Avenue for a reported shoplifting incident which occurred about 15 minutes earlier. The subject left with several cans of baby formula. The suspect was not found. This remains under investigation.
