Parent Talk, a nonprofit, volunteer organization in Boston’s Metrowest area that supports families with young children, is readying its semi-annual Used Clothing, Toy & Equipment Sale to be held Saturday, Oct. 18.

This fall’s Parent Talk sale offers families the opportunity to stock up on high-quality, bargain-priced children’s and maternity basics and Fall/Winter items, as well as to earn some money through consignment or to donate to local charities.

With cool weather fast approaching, many shoppers take advantage of the Sale’s bargain prices on baby basics and gear—which can be very important to expectant parents. Needham resident Sasha Spiegel was excited to help her then-pregnant sister find a pack’n’play and swing in excellent condition, both for reasonable prices: “This was great since she was anticipating spending a fortune.” Fellow Needham-ite Leslie Benson agrees: “Last year I walked out with a bag full of boys’ jeans and winter clothes for $10. It was a steal, and considering my son grew right out of them, so helpful!” And mom of two and Sherborn resident Diana Wilson is getting plenty of use out of her purchase from last year’s Fall Sale: “The best thing I got was a toddler-sized Bundle-Me. Super useful for these cold New England winters!”

Shoppers consistently rave about the variety of the items they purchase at the sale. Needham resident Beth Seidman explains: “I’ve gotten so many good things at the Sale that it’s hard to say which is best, so I’ll give you a few ideas. Since we were new to homeownership and came from the city, the Sale was an awesome resource to stock up on toys for the house at such a low cost. All of the items were in great condition and I have been slowly donating them back to the Sale as my kids grow out of them. I got a Cozy Coupe car for $5. Why spend $43 when you can spend $5?! Also clothes! I always get great clothes at the Sale. At the last Sale, I found a brand new J.Crew skirt for my daughter with the tags still on.” Sale Co-Chair and Needham resident Seema Layne is anticipating a lot of great items and brands: “Mini Boden, Gap jeans, great winter jackets, hats, and gloves, Easy-Bake ovens, bags and bags of Legos, and a Power Wheels Hummer! We also have already gotten rugs for nurseries and baby and toddler bedding. And that’s just a glimpse of what has already been donated!”
Occupying three floors of Needham’s Christ Episcopal Church and featuring thousands of bargain children’s items, Parent Talk’s Semi-annual Sale is attended by hundreds of shoppers. Last Sale, almost 10,000 items were sold.
