Plugged In Live: A Concert Streamed Around the World

Massachusetts' young musicians are set to participate in a one-of-a-kind live music webshow.

It's events like today's Plugged In Live: A Concert Streamed Around the World, an eight-hour webinar at the Natick teen television studio Young Broadcasters of America, that make you step back in awe at the capabilities the 21st century's technology gives us.

Plugged In Live will be a pay-per-view webcast that will go out live all over the world. 32 teen bands from the area will each play 10 minute segments to support the Plugged In Teen Band Program, a non-profit teen rock band program in Needham teaching kids about using music to create positive changes in the world.

“We have two fundraisers a year, one in the Fall and one in the Spring,” detailed Co-Founder and Co-Director of the Plugged In Teen Band Program, Sandra Rizkallah. “Our Spring event is always an event done by teens.”

Rizkallah explained that last year's Spring fundraiser, Jam-A-Thon, was a live eight-hour stage show that was only somewhat successful.

“There wasn't a huge crowd, so this year, we thought of a webcast pay-per-view event to easily raise funds and something people could engage in right from home,” said Rizkallah.

The 32 local area teen musicians from all over Massachusetts will be teaming up with a special mystery guest – to find out who this guest is, well, you'll have to sign up at www.pluggedinband.tv and watch for yourself!

Rizkallah went on to mention future plans for the Plugged In Teen Band community and said, “We plan on incorporating this technology more and more into our website. We want to create a social network for teen musicians to help raise money for different music related causes, and create a place where teens can connect, upload their band's videos and more.”
