Police: House and Car Break; Fraud; Stolen Money

The following are excerpts from the Needham police log. An arrest or charge does not indicate a conviction.

Tuesday, July 22

At 12:46 a.m., police responded to 302 Warren St. for a B&E into a vehicle parked in the driveway. The owner did not report anything missing. At 8:30 a.m., a resident reported that his car was hit while parked at Dunkin Donuts on Highland Ave. the car left the scene, but a witness provided a license plate numberAt 9:11 a.m., police fielded a report of fraud. A resident from Maple Street received a letter from the Michigan Department of the Treasury requesting personal information regarding a tax return. This resident has never been a resident of Michigan. At 10:14 a.m., police responded to Captain Roger Cook Drive for a report of a break that occurred the night before. Nothing was missing and no damage done. At 11:20 a.m., police made a traffic stop on Charles Street. The operator was cited for operating after suspension and an expired license. At 4:28 p.m., officers headed to a Rosemary Street business for a report of a two-car crash. A 24-year-old Lowell woman had suffered minor injuries and was transported to the hospital. No citations were issued to either driver. At 7:40 p.m., a Bellingham resident reported money missing from her wallet after going to an office visit at BI Deaconess Family Medicine on Chestnut Street

Wednesday, July 23

At 11:20 a.m., police responded to a Maple Street address for a report of a single motor vehicle crash involving town property. The crash detached a fire hydrant from its base and caused minimal damage to the roadway. At 11:59 a.m., police responded to 1250 Great Plain Ave. for a report of attempted fraud. At 1:46 p.m., police responded to Rae Ave. for a report of a suspicious party. The resident said someone rang the doorbell and then jiggled the door handle. Police found the suspect, who said he was soliciting for his business. At 3:40 p.m., police responded to a hit and run at Personal Best Karate At 5:34 p.m., officers responded to Highland Ave. for a two-car crash with possible injuries.
