A Vandalizing Vehicle
May 19- 9 p.m.- A party notified police that a car had stuck the shrubs at 379-381 Hunnewell St. and that the car also hit the side of the business building at 175 Hillside Ave. Several shrubs were damaged, as was the right front corner of the building. One of the tenants on Hunnewell St. stated that he heard something at approximately 9 p.m., but didn't see anything when he looked out the window.

May 19- 10:08 p.m.- While on patrol, Officer Leo Schlittler observed a vehicle operating without a light illuminating the rear registration plate. He pulled the car over at the corner of Bess Rd. and Central Ave. and asked for the driver's license and registration. At this time, Schlittler noticed the odor of marijuana coming from inside the car.
After asking the operator to step out of the vehicle, Schlittler searched the man and found a bag of marijuana in his front pocket. A search of the car yielded a glass pipe with burnt marijuana residue, as well as a bag that contained marijuana leaves and seeds in the change holder.

The driver and his passenger, a 24-year-old Roslindale man and a 25-year-old Needham man, respectively, were issued citations for possessing less than one ounce of marijuana.
Linens Stolen from Restaurant Depot
May 20- 3:30 p.m.- Police spoke to a man who reported that some linen table cloths had been stolen from the back of his pickup truck. The man reported that he had pulled up to Restaurant Depot around 2 p.m. and parked his truck inside the building. About an hour later, he reported, he returned to find the items missing.
The man stated that his vehicle had been locked at the time, though he demonstrated that the cap on the truck could be lifted if pulled hard enough. The reporting party is a caterer and had "many other food items" in the truck, but none of these were taken.
The man and a manager reviewed the surveillance tape of the garage area, but no unusual activity was noted. The tablecloths had been reportedly rented for $260, with a replacement cost of $37 for each of the 20 cloths he had.
Parking Lot Punch-Out
May 20- 8:36 p.m.- A man stated that he observed another man standing outside of the Mandarin Cuisine restaurant who was talking on the phone. The man was reportedly standing by the reporting party's van, got angry and punched the van before driving off. A description of the man was given to Needham and Newton police, but a search was met with negative results. Police observed damage to the van's front right fender.
