Police Log: A Very Different Tyler Perry Arrested in Needham

A Marshfield man who shares the name of a famous movie and television mogul was in for a less than glamorous day in Needham last week.

27-year-old Tyler Perry was arrested on Jan. 30 and charged with speeding and operating under the influence of alcohol.

Needham Police observed the Marshfield man’s vehicle traveling at 50mph in a 30mph zone around 2:46 a.m. that morning, near the area of 757 Highland Ave.

After pulling the car over, officers approached the driver and detected a strong odor of alcoholic beverage, according to reports. Officers also noted that Perry’s eyes were glassy and bloodshot, and his speech slurred. Perry was also reportedly unsteady on his feet.

Perry was placed under arrest for operating under the influence.
