Police Log: Bicyclist Falls on Charles River St.

Police responded to the area of 89 Charles River St. at 2:42 p.m. on Aug. 31 for a report of a cyclist crash.

Responding officers discovered that the bicyclist had fallen off of her bike after hitting a bump in the roadway. No motor vehicles were involved.

The cyclist was lying on the roadway face down when officers arrived and was being tended to by a friend. From statements gathered at the scene, police discerned that the woman was heading west when she rode over a patch for a sewer connection that was "slightly raised above the level of the road," according to reports, before striking a sewer manhole located below the road level.
