Police Log: Bicyclist Strikes Truck Near High School

The truck driver drove the boy and his bike to the school after the accident.

Needham Police and Needham Fire paramedics responded to Webster St. and Lindbergh Ave. on July 12 for a report of a motor vehicle striking a bicyclist.

The cyclist is described in police reports as a "boy who was on is way to the high school."

The cyclist reported that he was riding his bike southbound on the Webster sidewalk. As he approached Lindbergh, a black truck reportedly began pulling out of the street in an effort to turn onto Webster St.

The cyclist stated that the truck had stopped in time, but he could not, running into the vehicle with the front tire of his bike. The truck driver reportedly got out and asked the boy if he was alright before driving him and the bike to the high school. After dropping the boy at the school, the driver reported the incident and left the scene. His name was not obtained.

The boy was checked out by paramedics and deemed unharmed. His bike was transported back to his home.
