Police Log: Cyclist Struck by Jeep Near Ice Rink

Police were dispatched to the front of the St. Sebastian's ice rink at 2:15 p.m. on Sept. 6 for a report of a bicyclist struck by a motor vehicle.

Officer Leo Schlittler observed a bicycle on the ground, upon his arrival, and three individuals standing nearby. The first person was identified as the cyclist, the second the driver and the third an employee of the school.

The driver told Schlittler that he was taking a right turn into the parking lot and did not see the biker. The vehicle struck the biker and the biker was knocked to the ground. The driver admitted responsibility and was cited with failure to yield right of way. Police transported the bicyclist to his home. No injuries were reported.
